Storm Tracker Forecast - Bright And Breezy Thursday With Bigger Changes This Weekend

  • 0

Wednesday was another beautiful, but unsettled day for northern California with above average temperature and gusty wind. Thursday will be similar, with chances of rain and snow not too far away.

It was a blue and blustery Wednesday for northern California with continued warmer than average weather. The breezes will continue Thursday, but we'll have bigger changes to our weather by this weekend. Our region remains on the eastern side of a large ridge of high pressure just off the West Coast, which is keeping our sky clear, but continues to allow more gusty wind to blow through the canyons and down the valley. Tonight will be clear and dry with more valley and foothill breezes. Lows will range from the 10s and 20s in the mountains to the 30s and 40s in the foothills and valley. Thursday will be bright and breezy once again with highs from the 40s in the mountains to the 50s and 60s in the foothills and valley.

We can expect more clouds on Friday as a small wave of energy clips northern California, but it won't give any good chance of rain or snow. We'll have fewer clouds and stronger breezes Saturday in advance of a larger trough of low pressure arriving Sunday and early Monday. That storm will bring a better chance of valley and foothill rain, mountain snow, gusty wind and much cooler air. We'll lose most of the clouds and showers through the day on Monday, with fewer clouds next Tuesday and Wednesday under a building ridge of high pressure. Valley lows will remain in the 30s and 40s through next Wednesday, with valley highs falling from the mid and upper 60s Thursday to the lower 50s by Sunday and Monday.
