Semi-trailer crash

REDDING, Calif. - The Redding Police Department says that they are investigating a crash that left a woman dead on Saturday at around 8:19 p.m.

Police say that officers responded to the crash on State Street, west of Favretto Avenue. When they arrived on scene they found a dead woman inside a tent that was partially under a semi-trailer truck. She had been pronounced dead at the scene.

The Redding Police Department Traffic Unit then responded to the scene and conducted a crash investigation. Which revealed that the 62-year-old driver was backing up westbound on State Street when it struck the woman who was inside a tent south of the road.

Both the driver and passenger were contacted at the scene and gave a statement on the crash. Police say that drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the crash.

The crash is still under investigation, anyone who has information is encouraged to contact the Redding Police Department Traffic Unit at 530-225-4200.
