PARADISE, Calif.- The bomb squad was called to Paradise Monday night after police said a motorcyclist was found with a pipe bomb, drugs and a machete.
The incident started around 10:30 Monday night when an officer pulled over a motorcyclist at Clark and Elliott Roads.
The driver was identified as Paul Desnoyers, a 52 year old Paradise resident. Police said Desnoyers was found to be in possession of suspected methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and a dagger.
Butte County Inter-Agency Bomb Squad was called out and the area was cordoned off. Out of caution, a nearby gas station was temporarily closed and the fuel pumps shut off. The bomb squad performed procedure to render the device safe.
Police said additional weapons were found during a search of the suspect's backpacks, including a 12 gauge flare pistol with a 12 gauge shotgun shell, multiple knives, and a large machete.
Desnoyers was booked into Butte County Jail on a series of charges including possession of explosive device, possession of firearm as a felon, possession of ammunition as a felon, possession of controlled substance and drug paraphernalia
