Woman hit, killed by semi-truck in Redding identified

REDDING, Calif. - Deputies have identified the woman who police said died after she was hit by a semi-truck while in a tent in Redding on Saturday. 

The Shasta County Sheriff’s Office said 57-year-old Lori Rasmussen, of Redding, died after she was hit by a semi-truck near State Street and Favretto Avenue.

Police said they responded to a report of a crash at State Street, west of Favretto Avenue, at about 8:20 p.m. 

When officers arrived, they found a woman inside a tent that was partially under a semi-truck trailer.

Officers said the driver was backing up west on State Street when the trailer hit the woman inside the tent. Police said she was inside the tent that was south of the road.  

Police said drugs and alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the collision.

The collision remains under investigation.
