CAL FIRE fighting several lightning fires near Susanville

In the Susanville area, CAL FIRE is working to put out at least 10 lightning fires on state land. The largest is at least 15 acres near Devils Corral and there are more around Eagle Lake. Eight of the fires are in the surrounding Susanville Area. The Lassen-Modoc Unit called in help and expects to keep these fires from spreading. No homes are threatened.

Pine Fire reaches 100% containment

The Pine Fire is now 100% contained. The fire burned 50 acres near Pine Meadow and Cloverdale Roads in the Happy Valley area of Shasta County. CAL FIRE said a mower sparked the flames. The fire destroyed seven small buildings and a travel trailer.

CAA food drive will be in Concow Friday

There's a free, healthy food giveaway for anyone who needs it in Butte County today. The North State food bank will be distributing food boxes at Pines Hardware, on Miller Flat Road in Yankee Hill. It starts at 10 a.m.and ends at noon, or until supplies run out. You're asked to stay in your car and the food box will be brought to you.

Paradise church to reopen Saturday after burning in Camp Fire

Tomorrow marks the grand reopening of a Paradise church that burned in the Camp Fire. The original Our Savior Lutheran Church on Pentz Road was built in 1965. Church leaders welcome everyone to the ribbon cutting at 10 a.m. Saturday. Future plans call for reopening the church preschool.
