Senator Nielson supports Thermalito school district’s COVID vaccine resolution

THERMALITO, Calif. - Senator Jim Nielsen said he supports the Thermalito Union Elementary School District COVID-19 vaccine resolution, saying opting-out is a right.

The resolution was sent to Gov. Gavin Newsom, Nielsen, Assemblyman James Gallagher, the California Public Health and the Butte County Public Health.

Senator Nielsen responded to the district superintendent saying he “will continue to vote for individual choice and parental rights when it comes to vaccines.”

Nielsen also said denying access to public education due to a student not getting the vaccine is wrong.

The senator said he is not against vaccines but believes parents are responsible for the medical decision of their children.
