RED BLUFF, Calif. - The Red Bluff Holiday basketball tournament tipped off Thursday. Several schools around Northern California traveled to play.
Red Bluff, University Prep, Pleasant Valley, and Arcata Boys Basketball competed in a round-robin style tournament.
Pleasant Valley cruised by University Prep 72-27. The Vikings jumped out to a 17-0 lead in the first quarter. They led by nearly 40 at the half and never looked back.
Red Bluff fell to Arcata 67-47. The Spartans dropped to 3-7 on the season, while the Tigers remain a perfect 8-0.
Red Bluff, Pleasant Valley, West Valley, Corning, Enterprise, Uprep, Arcata, and Anderson Girls Basketball played a traditional tournament.
University Prep played a back-and-forth game against West Valley, winning 58-51. The game was close, with teams alternating a pair of threes to tie the game at 21 at the half. The Panthers took several double-digit leads in the second half. At one point, the Eagles brought it within four points, but couldn't complete the comeback.
Pleasant Valley dominated Corning 71-17. The Vikings scored a whopping 45 points in the first half and only allowed two from the Cardinals.
Lastly, Red Bluff and Enterprise faced off. Senior Abigail Shoff was all over the court. She tallied a game-high 22 points. The Hornets stung the Spartans 65-23.
Games continue Friday at 3:30 p.m. On the girl's side, Pleasant Valley takes on Uprep, Corning plays West Valley and Enterprise plays Arcata. For the boys, Arcata battles Uprep and Pleasant Valley plays Red Bluff.
