Police identify a 33-year-old man found dead in an Orland alley

ORLAND, Calif. - Orland Police Department has identified and released more information about a man that was found dead in an alley Wednesday.

Officers said 33-year-old Bernabe Trenado-Cruz of Orland was found dead in an alleyway near the 500 block of Fourth St. and Fifth St. Wednesday.

An investigation determined there was a domestic incident at a nearby residence on Tuesday around 5 p.m.

Police said Trenado-Cruz fired a handgun into a vehicle that had his estranged family in it.

After the shooting, Trenado-Cruz took off from the area and climbed through a fence into the alley where he was found.

Police say Trenado-Cruz was shot once when climbing through the fence and collapsed to the ground.

Police responded to the area Wednesday morning after people who work in the area found him in the alley.

A firearm was recovered at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing and an autopsy has been scheduled.

Police say there are not any suspects and there is no known threat to the public.
