City of Chico to begin leaf collection program in November

CHICO, Calif. - The annual leaf collection program in Chico will begin on Nov. 1, according to the City of Chico.

The last pickup will be on Jan. 1, 2022, and after that residents will not be able to leave the leaves in the street.

People are asked to keep piles under four feet high and one foot away from the cub. They are asked to keep the leaf piles away from bike lanes and storm drain inlets.

The City of Chico says only leaves can be dropped in the piles, no branches, prunings, plastic bags or trash.

Crews do a route that starts in the southwest section of the city and progresses north in a clockwise direction, the City of Chico said in a news release.

The route takes about four to six weeks to complete before they start the route over again.
