BUTTE COUNTY, Calif. - Firefighters have stopped the forward progress of a vegetation fire in Butte County Wednesday afternoon, according to CAL FIRE Butte County.

The fire was nearly an acre in the area of Romo Road and Nicholas Ranch Road. CAL FIRE said the fire was burning at a slow rate of spread.

Crews will remain at the scene to mop up.

Nicholas Ranch Road is located near Swedes Flat Road between Bangor and Kelly Ridge.

CAL FIRE said steep and rocky terrain has made access to the fire difficult.

CAL FIRE is calling it the Fox Fire.
