REDDING, Calif. - Two people were taken into custody early Thursday morning in Redding after they were caught driving a stolen vehicle.

Shortly after 2 a.m. Thursday, Redding Police responded to a stolen vehicle off of Churn Creek Road. The vehicle had been stolen out of Gresham Oregon, near Portland, and an officer recognized the vehicle.

Police stopped the car at the corner of Churn Creek and South Bonnyview roads.

Officers drew their firearms due to the high risk nature of the vehicle stop, according to Redding Police Sgt. Mark Montgomery.

A man and a woman were inside the car and were both taken into custody for charges including possession of stolen property. Police say at least one of the suspects may have been booked for other outstanding charges, unrelated to the stolen vehicle.

More details will be released as soon as they become available.
