SHASTA COUNTY, Calif. - Five COVID-19 deaths were reported in Shasta County over the weekend, according to Shasta County Health and Human Services (SCHHS).
SCHHS said a man in his 50s, a woman in her 60s, two men in their 70s and a man in his 80s died from the virus.
Over the last seven days, SCHHS has reported eight COVID-19 deaths. There have now been 481 COVID-19 deaths in Shasta County.
There are 35 people in the hospital and nine are in the ICU. SCHHS says the county has 114 active cases.
According to Monday’s report, there were 43 new COVID-19 cases over the weekend, bringing the total number of cases in Shasta County to 22,850.
As of Wednesday, 50% of Shasta County’s population that is eligible for the vaccine was fully vaccinated. SCHHS said 56.9% had received at least one dose.
Butte County reported one new COVID-19 death over the weekend and 52 new cases.
