OROVILLE, Calif. -Â Butte College Women's Basketball's season has come to an end.Â
The Roadrunners fell to Irvine Valley 56-48 in the Elite Eight of the CCCAA State Playoffs Thursday.Â
While they may have lost, the team still had an impressive season. Butte College went undefeated (10-0) in league, won the Golden Valley Conference for the second straight season and made its first Elite Eight in 20 years.Â

"It's been a lot of years since Butte College won back-to-back titles," head coach Tyler Newton said after the regular season. "It's been about 17 years since anybody's gone 10-0. The girls made some history, which is awesome."
The Roadrunners cruised through their first two CCCAA playoff games. Butte College took down the College of San Mateo 79-52 in the second round. In the Sweet Sixteen, the Roadrunners beat Fresno City 69-42. They held the Rams to 42 points when they normally average 90.
In addition to his team's accomplishments, Coach Newton was named the 2022 California Community College Women's Basketball Coaches Association North Coach of the Year.Â
