SHASTA COUNTY, CALIF. -  Shasta County Sheriff's Deputies arrested two people after a shooting incident the morning of Saturday, February 5th, on the 13600 block of Bear Mountain Road, northeast of Redding.

Sheriff's Investigators say a woman called 911 at 7:39 a.m. to report a burglary in progress on her property.  She said she observed a man and woman on her property through live-feed surveillance.

Another call came in from the woman's boyfriend, who reported he and his 78 year old father fired at the suspects  after the driver intentionally struck the father with his car.  Deputies say the two followed the suspects, who abandoned their vehicle and ran into a wooded area nearby.

Deputies say they contacted 21-year-old Cari Kegarise in the area when she tried to report her boyfriend, 43-year-old Raymond Rawls, had been shot in the hand. Rawls was found walking near Bear Mountain Road and Jennifer Drive and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Sheriff's Officials say Kegarise was arrested for petty theft, possession of stolen property and conspiracy. Once released from the hospital, Rawls will face charges of assault with a deadly weapon, elder abuse, possession of a stolen vehicle and conspiracy.

Anyone with further information about this incident is asked to call the Major Crimes Unit of the Shasta Sheriff's Office at (530) 245-6135.

Correction: The Shasta County Sheriff's Office sent the wrong photo for Rawls. That photo has been removed and updated with the correct photo.
