PARADISE, Calif. - Paradise Police Officers conducted a traffic enforcement stop of a car speeding in the area of Skyway and Coutolenc Road on Friday.
Paradise Police were informed from dispatch of the car possibly being related to a commercial burglary that happened earlier the same day in Chico.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as Aaron Cover, 25, of Paradise.
The passenger of the car originally gave officers a fake name, but was later identified as Meagan Wade, 21, of Magalia.
Officer Wood directed her police service K-9, Ridge, to conduct a clean air sniff for the odor of narcotics. Ridge was able to alert officers of the presence of narcotics.
A search of the car revealed 6.6 grams of suspected methamphetamine, two grams of suspected heroin, several hypodermic needles, several glass smoking devices and a large flashlight stun baton.
A criminal history check revealed Cover was a prior felon and on probation
Officers contacted the Chico Police Department to investigate the possible connection between the suspects and the commercial burglary.
Both Cover and Wade were arrested under the charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of a narcotic controlled substance and possession of narcotics paraphernalia.
Cover was additionally charged with possession of a leaded cane and felon in possession of a stun device.
Wade was additionally charged with providing false identification to a police officer. She was also released to the Chico Police DEpartment in connection with the commercial burglary and later taken to the Butte COunty Jail, as was Cover.
