2 arrested after multi-county vehicle pursuit

COLUSA COUNTY, Calif. - Two people were arrested following a vehicle pursuit that spanned Colusa and Glenn Counties for approximately two hours Thursday evening. 

Brian Felix of Magalia and Laura Waddell of Chico were arrested for various charges following the pursuit. 

On Jan. 13, around 9:58 p.m., a deputy from the Colusa County Sheriff’s Office tried to make a traffic stop on a 2022 Kia Optima that had two people inside for multiple violations made on Maxwell Colusa Rd. 

The vehicle did not yield and a pursuit ensued, according to the California Highway Patrol. 

The Colusa County Sheriff’s Office requested the California Highway Patrol take over the pursuit. As the vehicle entered Interstate-5 Northbound, the Williams CHP took over. A spike strip was deployed by Williams CHP on the vehicle. 

The vehicle continued into Glenn County, at which point Willows CHP took over the pursuit. Willows CHP then deployed an additional spike strip. 

The pursuit continued through the Glenn County area before the vehicle traveled southbound back into Colusa County, according to Williams CHP. 

A pit maneuver was performed by Williams CHP, disabling the fleeing vehicle. 

Around 11:58 p.m., Felix and Waddell were arrested without further incident on Old Highway 99W just south of Wadleigh Rd., according to CHP.

During the felony stop officials also seized a handgun from Felix.

Felix was charged with:

Waddell was charged with: 

  • 29800 (a)(1)PC

  • 30305(a)(1)PC
