Skies cleared out and we stayed dry for your Thursday. Winds did pick up out of the North and we've experienced gusts up to around 20mph. Winds are expected to diminish this evening and we'll be staying clear tonight. The clear skies and lighter winds will result in chilly temperatures settling in for your Friday morning. Frost will more than likely be an issue as you head out the door on Friday morning, so you may want to give yourself an extra few minutes to scrape your windshield. Valley areas are projected to dip into the high 20's to mid 30's overnight, and mountain aresa will end up in the teens to 20's for the start of your Friday. Skies will stay sunny to mostly sunny through the day on Friday. High temperatures will peak in the mid 50's in the valley and mountain areas will end up in the 30's to 40's. Winds will be out of the North up to around 15mph.
We'll be staying dry for the start of your weekend on Saturday. Temperatures will be very chilly again on Saturday morning, and frost will be possible. Skies will start out mostly clear but partly cloudy skies will return to most areas by late in the afternoon. Temperatures are not expected to change much compared to Friday on Saturday. We'll see mostly cloudy skies and the potential for showers returning to your forecast on Sunday. Snow levels will be down into the 4000' to 5000' range, but could be locally lower in Shasta County. Some travel impacts will be likely in the mountains on Sunday. Valley areas are currently projected to get up to around a 10th of an inch of rain on Sunday, and some higher peaks in the mountains could see 2 to 3 inches of snow on the way through Sunday night. Most of the wet weather is expected to wrap up late Sunday evening, and we'll be dry on Monday. Temperatures will be cooler on Sunday, with valley temperatures only reaching high 40's to low 50's in the afternoon.
Clearing skies and a modest rise in temperatures will be on the way for your Monday forecast. Overnight low temperatures will only dip into the 30's to low 40's, and high temperatures will end up in the mid to high 50's in the valley. Very similar weather will be on tap for New Years Eve on Tuesday and New Years Day on Wednesday. Skies will become partly cloudy for your New Years Day, but we'lre expecting to stay dry. The current outlook keeps us cloudy and dry for the end of next week.
