### two california lawmakers are pushing a bill that would bar the use of facial recognition technology in body cameras. california assemblymen phil ting and reginald jones-sawyer support the bill. they say the dangers of false positives are too high -- after a test of the system by the american civil liberties union falsely flagged both lawmakers as criminals. so the aclu ran all 120 members of the california legislature against a mug shot database using facial recognition technology. that system produced 26 false matches. the aclu says more than half of the falsely matched lawmakers were people of color. last year, the organization conducted a similar test that misidentified 28 members of congress -- that test also showed more inaccuracies with woman and people of color. ###
