five trailers full of debris! that's how much refuse volunteers this weekend cleared out of areas along the lindo channel. take a look at all of this - removed from 5 different illegal camps! members of the group chico community watch, along with chico police, park rangers and help from city councilmember scott huber, spent saturday morning trageting the area between the longfellow and esplanade bridges. they hauled off garbage carts, bicycles, couches and all manner of debris. this is just one of several community volunteer groups which are determined to keep the city clean. "if we weren't here to clean all of the garbage out of the lindo channel, it would be so awful. i have lived here 45 years and there as a point about 3 years ago i was driving around town seeing trash and i just couldn't stand it any more, and figured i had to do something." the saturday clean-up was part of a larger, ongoing effort to remove debris. member's of the city's pal's volunteer program meet each friday to target city parks and greenways - and the public is encouraged to volunteer. you can find more information on the program at our website, action news now, simply look under, news links.### in the
