tehama county is fighting the potential move-in of a sexually violent predator. action news now reporter laura eng is live for us now in the studio, where is the judge thinking of moving him, laura? highway 36 west in red bluff, this is the area where sex offender joshua cooley could possibly be relocated to. i think we're panicked, we're frustrated, we're a little bit angry. emotions are running high right now in tehama county. this is just a real burden to all of us, and i'm afraid for the children. several neighbors are entering a battle against placing sexually violent predator, joshua cooley, from humboldt county into tehama county. he served time in prison for sexually assaulting a minor. we have at least forty children under the age of 15 who feel free to ride their bikes, their horses, their quads. and homeowners say having a sex offender in the neighborhood would change things. what it feels like is we'll all be punished and feel like we need to stay inside and not be out by having someone so dangerous. the red bluff community met with the tehama county district attorney to talk about their concerns. he was not committed by our county as an svp, and he should be properly placed in humboldt county where was both a resident and an svp. laura: the tehama county district attorney said there is an address being considered for cooley, but we're choosing not to broadcast that for safety concerns. neighbors drew signs, some reading*do not allow that predator in our neighborhood. i want it to be safe for our children and our families. i want this to be a pro- family neighborhood. when it comes to something like this, we're gonna come together and we're gonna fight for our rights. our county says no. humbolt county will be holding a meeting on friday to talk about relocating cooley. that meeting will be at 8:30 a-m in eureka. laura eng, action news now.### the tehama county d-a will also be at that meeting with letters from neighbors on why they believe tehama county is not the right place for cooley.
