the shasta county sheriff's office arrested a man suspected of*repeatedly burglarizin* west valley high school. school staff noticed someone gas from school cars, cutting locks, and breaking into buildings. deputies performed surveillence and around 11 thursday night- deputies spotted a car previously seen caught on security cameras. they moved quickly-- and arrested*this ma* "corey walter." deputies searched his car-- and found drugs, tools, and an empty gas can with a siphoning hose. he is now behind bars.#### welcome back. here's what you need to know to start your day. chico police arrested a man suspected of prowling in the area of jillian lane. police recieved reports of a man who had to be chased away from the backyard of someones home around 4:30 thursday. an officer responded-- and spotted a man matching the prowlers description walk into the center for spiritual living on hillary lane. k-9 officer odin helped police find the man-- who was hiding in a bathroom. he was arrested and later identified as victor petkus.#### tehama county is fighting the potential move of a sexually violent predator. in a statement the tehama country district attorneys office says it has been proposed that joshua cooley be relocated just off of highway 36 in red bluff. this would be on "conditional release" from the state hospital meaning after sufficient treatment he would be released and supervised by liberty healthcare.#### today--- governor gavin newsom is expected to sign a bill to*help power companie* pay for wildfires. the new law would create a 21-billion-dollar fund that power companies can use to pay damages caused by fire linked to their equipment. the money for the fund would be paid for by a monthly charge on customers' bills, and contributions from state power companies. opponents say the bill goes too far to help power companies rather than hold them accountable.### the trump administration is going ahead with a nationwide immigration enforcement operation targeting immigrants here illegally. the so-called ice raids on people with final deportation orders could happen as soon as this weekend. president trump postponed the raids last month as democrats and others expressed opposition.#### a major tropical storm is now bearing down on states along the gulf coast - it may strengthen into the first hurricane of the season-- before it makes landfall. action news now will continue to follow the latest developments.### breaking news-- just into the newsroom- the president says labor secretary acosta is stepping down-- this move comes after criticism of his handling of jeffrey epstein's 2008 plea deal in the abuse of two dozen underage girls. he was the u.s. attorney in miami when he oversaw a 2008 nonprosecution agreement with epstein. president trump announced the news with acosta by his side at the white house. epstein now faces similar sex crime charges-- and you're never more than 10 minutes from your
