during the summer. now blood collection groups are asking for the public's help. reps at vitalant say blood usage tends to go up during the summer because of more recreational accidents. and... blood donations tend to go down as schools are out of session and people are on vacation. right now the supply is getting low. in fact the chico vitalant says it only has about two days worth of "o" type blood.. and they are hoping to double that. it's the community blood supply, and its all of our responsibility to put into that so when we need it, its there for us. if you are at least 110 pounds, and t least 16 years of age or older, vitalant reps say you can donate blood! if you are under 16, you will need to get a parent's consent. the whole procedure... we are told will take just about an hour. plus.. you can enjoy some sugary snacks while you're there. we have a list of locations where you can donate blood on our website, action news now dot com... just look for this story. ### time
