Man drowns off shore of Whiskeytown Lake

The National Park Service said a man drowned off the shore of Whiskeytown Lake on Monday.

.## also new at noon ... a drowning at whiskeytown lake. the park service say the 26-year old man and his friend were swimming just off the shasta divide nature trail yesterday afternoon.. the unidentified man swam across the cove and returned... but around 30 feet from shore he called out to his friend and went under. nearby paddle boarders helped bring the man to shore around 6:30... but first responders were not able to save

A fire weather watch has been issued from 1pm Monday to 11am Wednesday in the Valley and foothills due to dry and gusty conditions. We'll warm up next week but next weekend is looking much much cooler and wet.
