weekend. ### you're never more than 10 minutes away from your local weather on action news now. let's check in with cort klopping for details on your forecast. ### first wx/chr wall get ready for chilly, wet, and windy weather to return to northern california today. widespread showers will spread across our region today and become heavier as we head into tonight. temepratures will be much cooler this afternoon, and winds are picking up out of the south. snow levels are starting out at around 8000' this morning, but will drop to as low as 5500' by thursday morning. a winter storm warning will be in place for portions of the sierra above 6000' from midnight tonight through 6am friday morning. skies are mostly cloudy and showers are mostly along the coast as we start your wednesday. temperatures have stayed warm overnight, but will be much cooler this afternoon. valley areas are in the 50's to low 60's this morning, and mountain areas are in the 40's to 50's. winds will be out of the south to around 20mph, with gusts up to around 30mph this afternoon. high temperatures will only top out in the mid to high 60's in the valley this afternoon, and in the mid to high 50's in the mountains. showers will become widespread through the day and moderate to heavy showers are expected by this afternoon. rain will become heavier tonight and snow levels will start to drop. rain, snow, and thunderstorms will all be possible in your thursday forecast. the heaviest rain and snow are expected to be from wednesday evening through friday morning. valley areas could see up to 2 inches of rain through friday and some mountain areas could see up to 2 feet of snow through the end of the week. temepratures will only top out in the low to mid 60's in the valley on thursday. looks like we may see a lull in the active patter on friday. skies will be cloudy but showers will become very limited for the end of your work week. temperatures will climb back into the mid to high 60's in the valley on friday afternoon. another wet system is projected to spread across northern california on saturday and that will persist through sunday. temperatures will mostly be in the mid 60's in the valley this weekend. models are hinting at a continuing chance for showers and below average temperatures through the start of next week. we could see a shift to dry and warmer weather starting wednesday of next
