shot and killed a horse in anderson, leaving the owners wondering who would do such a thing... action news now reporter spencer joseph joins us live with the story.. spencer how common are crimes like this? debbie.. not common at all.. we have asked both the sheriffs office behind me and haven humane if they have heard of other instances like this one and both said they are pretty rare. the shooting happened last sunday at around midnight at his home in anderson... that's when jon says he heard his dogs barking but didn't hear any gun shots.. the next morning he came out to find that his horse had been shot in the forehead and would unfortunately die because of it. my grandson james he came down the hill and he rushed back to the house and said someone shot the horse... and we came out and he had been gasping for air and was suffering all night thats why its sad and you that really ticks me off. i spoke with the sheriff's office today and do have an open investigation into the case but no leads so far.... and the owner today told me that he just hopes no one else in the area has to go through this... live at the shasta county sheriffs office... spencer
