evening, i'm lauren martinez. the chico fire department hosted it's first town hall meeting tonight as we head into warmer months. action news now reporter laura eng is live at the chico fire department. laura, what was the fire chief's reason for doing something like this? after the camp fire, the chief wanted to address important concerns people had in chico about the risks the city faces itself. chief steve standridge and division chief jesse alexander outlined the*code-re* altert system, emergency notification systems and evacuation terms used. chico fire also outlined how chico fire responds in a wildland fire scenario. we spoke with people who were at the meeting about their concerns. it's frightening and i had friends that lost everything in magalia and in paradise so i'm concerned about it. i know better how to let the home get hot so i don't create a suction to get into the home. my go back is always ready. people think that the fire won't come close to them or they won't be in any trouble. they need to wake up because it really could! it goes so fast. chief standridge said chico fire responded to 37 wildfires and grass fires last year. chief standridge said based on how many people came to tonight's meeting, his department plans to have another town hall very soon. we'll have that date on our website when it's available. live in chico, laura eng, action news now.### calfire
