marc marc a cycling showdown today in downtown chico -- city streets, closed off for the running of the criterium portion of the annual "a-main stage race." vo here they come... the start -- finish line on broadway between fourth and fifth streets.. in eleven divisions of racing -- some 400 cyclists competed in the 4th and final stage of the three day event -- that began friday with a circuit race at thunderhill raceway -- followed by a road race saturday in the paskenta hills, leading up to todays time trials... and criterium, which covered, a seven-tenths of a mile course, with six corners, for the riders to negotiate.. as for how this event is rated in the cycling world.. it draws some high caliber competiors from nor cal and beyond.... #### marc marc sot full regional and national..and we will actually attract a fair number of national pros who will be in our pro-am. we have category of racing from the absolute level. you know because they can litterally ride year round the competition is the best in the country and sometimes the best in the world, because a lot of our guys got to world championships and win. vo along with individual stage winners... overall winners were determined by cyclists who accumlated the lowest times over the four stages of the race.. this is the 13th year, they've run the downtown criterium which morphed into a stage race, nine years ago.. ####
