first wx/chr wall we have a big change of pace in store for temperatures today, but fire danger is staying elevated across many areas of northern california. the red flag warning is set to continue through 11pm tonight for areas of the sierra, cascades, shasta coastal range. humidity will not be as low as yesterday, but gusty winds will continue to result in critical fire danger. gusts up to 50mph will be possible out of the southwest in the sierra through this evening. winds will not be as strong for coastal range, but the warning will persist in those areas as well. the red flag warning is set to expire at 11pm tonight. much cooler weather is ahead for the remainder of your work week! the 50's to low 60's this morning, and mountain areas have dipped into the 30's to 40's overnight. the stronger winds have helped to clear the air a bit since yesterday, and air quality is starting out in the moderate or good range for our region this morning. winds are out of the northeast to around 10mph this morning, but will be of the southwest for northern through this evening. humidity will likely stay above 20 percent this afternoon. temperatures are projected to top out in the low 80's in the valley, with 60's to 70's in the mountains. there is a chance for showers to sag into the northern portions of our area this afternoon. wet weather will be county. we'd love to see some wet weather tracking through the areas around the delta fire, and current projections are hinting that we may be getting in late this afternoon. the chance of showers will taper off by thursday morning. even cooler temperatures are expected for your thursday forecast, but sunny skies, modest south winds, and cooler temperatures are ahead for the rest of your work week. another cool system is projected to track through the west coast on saturday, and that will keep temperatures around 10 degrees below average through your weekend. skies will stay sunny to mostly sunny for your saturday and sunday. there is a warming trend projected for the start of next week, but that should only lift our temperatures back into the high 80's to low 90's in the valley.
