welcome back... i'm lauren martinez. alan alan and i'm alan marsden. caleen sisk. a north state tribal spiritual leader and democratic state assembly candidate. has been charged with multiple counts of fraudulent claims. and grand theft. boxes lauren lauren action news now reporter spencer joseph has more of the circumstances surrounding these charges. spencer? reporter live alan lauren we have just obtained a statement from caleen sisk. addressing the charges. now these fraud charges come as a part of her employment with california in home health services. where she says in part "she was taking care of a relative who required 24/7 care. now charges were filed back in march on this case... before the june 5th primary... but now she will not only have to face voters in november but what could be a lengthy cort case as well. caleen sisk. a north state and democratic state assembly candidate. has been charged with 6 counts of fraudulent claims as well as 1 count of grand theft. sot: fradulent activitiy that arises out of her imployment with in home health services and that arrises of fraudlent activity that she was engaged in... we also charged one count of grand theft. of sisks employment with the california in-home support services. the report alleges that sisk was paid $38,300 for time sheet but did not work, according to the investigation. that fraud took place in-between 2013 and last year. she was formerly arraigned back on june 22 and her preliminary hearing is scheduled for august. sot: those charges were inbetween 2013 and july of 2017 and a spokesperson for her says that she is denying all of these allegations. her lawyer also told action news now today that she is not the type of person that would commit fraud and that she is of good character. sisk is not currently in custody and is now awaiting her next court date. sot: she is currently not in custody and her nect corut date will be on august 7th and 8th for preliminary hearings sisk saying in part. when given an opportunity to present the facts, expect the charges to be dropped however, the timing of this concerns me.. apparently government agencies have been conducting surveillance on me, tracking me through social media, my employment records, my health records, and the care i give to my relative, and found inconsistencies that they have turned into a criminal prosecution.
