debbie debbie a group of redding doctors is back from africa after participating in a program that teaches skills to midwives that can help save newborn babies. vo it's called "helping babies breathe." and it teaches the midwives how to resuscitate babies who struggle to breathe at birth. a group of about six healthcare professionals made the trip to share their knowledge . sot full was our effort to bring this learning to midwives and birthing attendants, leave them with training supplies so that they could continue in their county to train their own people. and so this would be sustainable in the future. vo the doctors from "mercy medical center" and "shasta community health center" spent a little more than a week in the capital of ghana teaching the techniques. one in ten babies worldwide will need help breathing when born, and they hope
