Karen Alvarez joined Action News Now in September of 2019 as a bureau reporter in Redding.
She is thrilled to be back in her home state of California getting to do what she loves after having been a producer and reporter in Nebraska.
She is originally from southern California. She was born and raised in Thousand Oaks which is about an hour north of Los Angeles. She graduated from Loyola Marymount University in May of 2017 with a degree in philosophy and journalism.
Her prior experience includes working as an intern for two major local news stations in Los Angeles.
From a young age, Karen knew she always wanted to be a reporter, having grown up watching the news almost every day.
She’s now excited to call Redding her new home and tell the stories that matter most to Redding and the surrounding communities.
In her free time, Karen enjoys traveling, exercising, and eating as much Mexican food as she possibly can.
