YUBA CITY, Calif. - It was a beautiful summer night to start Pleasant Valley’s football season after coming off last week’s cancelled game because of Covid-19.
But Yuba City was ready for battle following their big win against River Valley last Friday.
First quarter, the Honkers and Vikings’ defense duked it out with huge stops on either end of the field.
Second quarter and only 30 seconds in, the Honkers snuck through Vikings defense for a quick touchdown.
After an easy extra point, the Honkers took the lead 7-0.
The defensive game continued throughout the second half.
Halfway through the third, Honkers Joaquin Porcayo scored their second touchdown of the game, bringing the score 14-0.
Moving onto the fourth, barely any time shaved off the clock when Pleasant Valley finally put some points on the board after a nice catch by senior Sean Saise.
But Yuba City wasn’t done.
With less than three minutes of play, the Honkers clinched their win with an interception by Tre Henry to end it all.
Yuba City ended up defeating Pleasant Valley 14-7 for their second win of the season.
Next, Pleasant Valley will play against Chico High while Yuba City will head south to Roseville next Friday.
