Wednesday kicked off the Early Signing Period. Prep seniors can put their names on the dotted line and make their collegiate plans official. Action News Now's Ross Field introduces us to two rivals who will soon become teammates in our Subway Scholar Athlete(s) of the Week segment.
This is a tale of two kids.
"I'm Jules Keeney."
"I'm Keeli Bryant."
From two different schools.
"Paradise High School," said Keeney.
"Pleasant Valley High School," said Bryant.
Signing on the same day.
"It feels amazing," said Keeney.
"I'm so excited!" Bryant exclaimed.
For the same sport.
At the same college.
"Notre Dame de Namur!"
A Div-II university in the Bay Area.
"The look and the campus, just walking around just felt home and then the people I met there were just so friendly," said Bryant.
"The coach is absolutely amazing and I've gotten to know the teammates and they've been just really amazing and really nice to me," added Keeney.
And these two EAL rivals happen to go way back as they used to be teammates in travel ball.
"She is an amazing softball player, I've gotten to see her play and play with her and I think that she is going to be an amazing asset to the team,." said Keeney.
"I absolutely love Jules with every part of my heart. She is such a blast and it's so funny that we've played together in the past and now we get to continue our experiences together at college," added Bryant.
And for Keeney and Bryant, this is more an athletic achievement, it's an academic one as well with both having their future's planned out.
"I want to study psychology and then I want to become a police officer like my dad," said Keeney.
"I want to major in kinesology and then my life aspiration would be to be a physical therapist," added Bryant.
A terrific twosome headed Notre Dame de Namur's way. Look out!
