CHICO, Calif. -- Pleasant Valley's Girls volleyball team is 11-0 to start its year. Leading the way is senior Makenna Joyce.
She's a four-year varsity starter and captain on the Vikings' team. Joyce was also the Northern Section CIF M.V.P. last year.
But, what's equally impressive is her committment inside the classroom. Her 4.0 GPA paved the way for her verbal commit to D-I Saint Mary's College in California. Starring on and off the court is not an easy task, but Joyce says she has too much at stake.
"I need to be there for my teammates," said Joyce. "We're tyring to do really special things this year and also trying to make my last year of volleyball here super special."
Joyce has thrived in a culture suited for her work ethic.
"Here at PV, we just try to be as relentless as possible and try to have the same minsdset on the court as we do off the court," said Joyce.
