CHICO, Calif. -- High school football season is over, unless you're the Pleasant Valley Vikings and Senior Austin York.
He helped the Vikings earn their second straight section title rushing for a 175 yards and three touchdowns. York’s impact stems far beyond his duties in the backfield.
Head Coach Mark Cooley says, “...he's just a he's a really good athlete and he brings it every day and wants to compete.”
York also dominates in the classroom posting a 3.6 grade point average. “I got days where I'm watching film for many hours couple days where I’ve got to do homework then watch film. You ask a lot of guys and they’ll tell you I'm big on watching film but you’ve got to do your schoolwork first.”
A dedicated athlete who cares about winning on the field, and in the classroom. That’s why he’s our Subway Scholar-Athlete of the Week.
