OROVILLE, Calif. -- Seven Butte College football players signer their letter of intent Wednesday morning to continue football at the next level. But, the road to get to where they are now has been quite the process.
“Being in the playoffs, winning a bowl game, winning a conference championship. It all kind of leads to these opportunities and that's what we talk about all the time and the individual success will always follow the team success and so we're seeing that now," said head coach Rob Snelling.
“I'm really grateful. I came here and the school and the coaches have done everything for me. My parents have gone through it with me the whole entire time, so it's been a struggle at times, but it's all worked out and obviously paid off. It’s all a blessing, really," said University of Oregon commit, TJ Bass.
“From coming in my freshman year to you know still a little bit new to football and just the coaching staff believing in me and they've believed in me the whole time I’ve been here. Even when I had doubts here and there, they pushed me and believed in me," said Cal Poly commit, Trevor Owens.
"Whether its teachers, coaches, or players, all of them together, they've helped me grow into the person I am today and I definitely couldn't be here without them," said Auburn University commit, Brenden Coffey.
While the Roadrunner are trading in the black and gold for new colors, their BC pride will never go away.
"[Junior college] bonds they are strong. You go through stuff that normal people don't. You don't go through that through just daily life, but I mean that's what I'm going to go out of here with is brothers all across the country," said Bass.
"Our biggest thing as a program is just trying to make sure our guys are well prepared when they leave here and that they can contribute where they go next, so I always feel good about our guys being able to go anywhere in the country, fit in, do what's right, work hard, try to bring some of our culture and our program to where they go next," said Coach Snelling.
"When I got there, I felt the love, I felt the brotherhood, they had the culture. Yeah, it reminded me of Butte College, just a good fit. I'm fired and they're fired up and I mean Butte made me the player I am," said Owens.
