CHICO, Calif. - It was another huge Friday night for Chico High and Pleasant Valley in their final game of the season.
In a year where student athletes didn’t know if they’d even be able to play football, both PV and Chico were ready to get going once again this season.
The signs were up around the Panthers home turf and the fans were excited to see these teams face off.
Action News Now caught up with senior players at the end of the game and asked how it felt playing in their last big game.
“It’s great,” Vikings Grant Garretson said. “It’s good to end on a win against our rivals. Chico showed up and played. We couldn’t end the year in a better way. It was a lot of fun.”
“It was a good game and a good season,” Panthers Ryan Kistle said. “I’m happy!”
Chico High’s varsity coach Jason Alvistur couldn’t agree more.
“We had a lot of ups and downs this year,” he explained. “It’s hard to start and stop and to get these kids to come out and work hard…hats off to them. I think we learned a lot about ourselves this year.”
After a hard-fought game on both ends of the field, the Vikings won it, 29 to 21.
