An Oroville man is set to be a participant on a popular reality TV show. Tyler Diamond will appear on the next season of "The Ulimate Fighter," a famous show that seeks to transform unknown professional fighters into UFC stars.

"I'm very honored to have been part of the show and to represent such a great city like Oroville," said Diamond.

Diamond says the show was filmed in Las Vegas at "The Ultimate Fighter" house where he lived with fifteen other fighters.

If you win your fights, you can earn a UFC contract.

"Every single season they try to do something new to draw a lot interest and this season they only put people on that are undefeated, so I tried out and luckily I got on and I got to do my thing," says Diamond.

For Diamond, who's 10-0 as a pro, the path to "The Ultimate Fighter" is the high point in a long fighting career.

He won a Masters wrestling title for Oroville High in 2009 and a couple weeks after graduation, he stumbled upon his first amateur fight by accident.

"I went up to corner my buddy in Reno and the promoter asked him if the short kid with cauliflower ears wanted to fight and my friend elected me without asking me. I stepped in there had a very successful win and that's when I started really think 'hey I could make a career out of this and be very good,'" said Diamond.

Eventually Diamond caught on Team Alpha Male out of Sacramento where he trains with his friend and fellow Oroville fighter Benito Lopez.

"Iron sharpens iron, he's helped me out a lot and we've just made each other better," said Diamond.

And Diamond says he enjoyed filming "The Ultimate Fighter."

"I'm the type of the guy who when you get an opportunity in life you have to take it and this had my name written all over it and everyone can find out how I did starting April 18th," said Diamond.

The show will air on Fox Sports 1.
