MODOC COUNTY, Calif. – One Modoc County teen is bringing home a state championship for sporting clays.

Tristan Walker took home the Junior Varsity first place title with a 96/100 score.

The Modoc Shooting Team traveled to Dunnigan, California for the California Youth Shooting Sports Association 2020 Sporting Clays State Championship this past weekend. Teams from all over the state shot at Raahauge's Gun Club to compete for the winning title.

Bryon and Heather Hadwick coach the Modoc Shooting team. Heather told Action News Now the team gives high schoolers an opportunity to compete in shooting events throughout the state. Youth are able to participate in Sporting Clays, Trap and Skeet.

The Modoc Shooting team will be heading to the National Championship for Sporting Clays in Las Vegas, Nevada July 2021.
