Chico State men left out of NCAA Tournament

Wildcats fail to make the tournament for the first time since 2011

The Chico State men's basketball team fails to make the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2011.

The Wildcats entered Selection Sunday on the bubble. They were 7th in the West Region rankings before losing to then 9th-seeded UC San Diego in the second round of the CCAA Conference Tournament. UCSD went onto win the tournament defeating Cal Poly Pomona 68-66 in the title tilt.

UCSD earned the sixth seed and Cal Poly Pomona secured the No. 4 seed.

The rest of the eight-team region features non-CCAA squads. The final two seeds are Azusa Pacific at No. 7 and Point Loma at No. 8.

The Wildcats finish the year with a 20-8 overall record. This marks the end of the brilliant careers of potential Wildcat Hall of Famers Corey Silverstrom, Jalen McFerren and Isaiah Ellis.
