Chico Senior Softball is celebrating 35 years of playing this season.
The league has three divisions, 12 teams and over 250 players. The players range from 47-years-old to 87 years-old.
"It's competitive," said President of Chico Senior Softball, Dave Shoemaker. "You can't say that they're not competitive because they love to win."
"It doesn't take long for them to recapture those skills that they had at a younger age," said Brock Murdoch, a player for Chico Senior Softball. "They start to hit how they use to hit, catch how they use to catch and throw how they use to throw. I mean, yeah, everyone's a little bit weaker."
But they say, they will always come back for the love of the game.
"The fun and the thrill and being with people," said Shoemaker. "We've had people with knee replacements, hip replacements. I had neck surgery one year. But, they come back because they like the people that are here."
Chico Senior Softball plays Monday through Friday starting at 5:15 p.m. They will also have a tournament August 19th to the 22nd at Hooker Oak and Rex Murphy Fields.
