CHICO, Calif. -- The 14 and under Chico Panthers football team is gearing up for the Football Championship Series in Las Vegas this weekend.

The Panthers are 24-0 across two seasons and most recently won their second straight Nor-Cal State title.

The Panthers earned the No.4 spot on the FCS Hot Teams list, but plan to come out on top this weekend.

"It’s just a different opponent," said assistant coach Kyseasn Green. "Just something different from what they played in the regular season, so that's [the only challenge. But I'm pretty sure once we strap on and after that first kick-off, our guys should be ready to play and go back to balling like they do every season."

As expected a lot more smoke has poured over the California Central Valley from the Dixie Fire, and our air quality has worsened significantly. We can expect hotter weather this weekend, and the smoke will linger, too.
