CHICO, Calif. -- Last season the Panthers went 5-1 in league play and 10-2 overall to tie Pleasant Valley and Paradise High School for the league title.

The Panthers fell short in the NorCal Section title game 20-17 against Pleasant Valley last season. They said it was the second time losing the section game and that it was a wake-up call to go harder this season.

"We're definitely working on some plays, getting use to each other because we have a new quarterback, so we have to get used to all our new players playing together and just new looks, looking at what can we do and how to execute," said seniors Gustavo Ramos and Ramon Campos.

"They have been a real dedicated group," said head coach Jason Alvistur. "We've been to the section championship two years in a row and lost and I think this group really wants to get their own shot at that game and get there and win."

Alvistur will return for his 11th season. He says he is returning at least half of his starters.

The Panthers will kickoff preseason play away on August 30th in Sacramento. They will return home on September 13th to host Yuba City.
