CHICO, Calif. - The Chico All-Star Minors softball team are state champions.

It's the first time a Chico minors team has brought home the title.

"It was really exciting once we won because we knew all our hard work got put into play," Pitcher Teal Hamman said.

The 12-girl team was selected from Chico little league teams two months ago.

The All-Star team cruised through Districts, Regionals and State. They shut out every team they played in the state competition.

"We were undefeated so it was really exciting," Catcher Charlie Bishop said. "I don't know anybody who's gone undefeated with winning state."

If that isn't impressive enough, Hamman threw a no-hitter.

"When you pitch, you know all your teammates have your back," she said. "So that's probably my favorite part."

"As a coach you just want them to go out and have fun," Head Coach Kory Hamman said. "That's what we accomplished. If you win along the way, that's the cherry on top."

Chico little league has been around for over 20 years.

We've had a gray and cool start to the first full week of December in northern California. Light rain showers will fall tonight, we can expect a breezy and brighter Tuesday, with much more active weather ahead.
