CALIFORNIA -- The California Department of Public Health released COVID-19 interim guidelines for youth sports. This includes school-based, club and recreational programs.

According to CDPH, outdoor and indoor sporting events, assemblies, and other activities that require close contact or that would promote congregating are not permitted at this time. This includes tournaments, events, or competitions, regardless of whether teams are from the same school or from different schools, counties, or states.

The CDPH says these guidelines are consistent with the California Interscholastic Federation's guidelines. The CIF, which governs high school athletics announced last month that the fall sports season would be pushed back to 2021.

CDPH says youth sports and physical education are permitted only when physical distancing and a stable group, like a class, can be maintained. Activities should take place outside.

Face coverings will be required during indoor physical conditioning where gyms are allowed to reopen. Students should also avoid sharing equipment unless it can be disinfected between uses.

It was a bright and breezy Friday for northern California, however the wind has been much stronger over Modoc County where a High Wind Warning is in effect through this evening. Stronger wind and cooler air will define our weather Saturday.
