For the last four years, a local golf club has been saying thank you to those who have served by offering free golf.
Butte Creek Country has developed a relationship with the Chico Veterans Affairs to give veterans golf access twice a month on Wedensday's during the play season.
Butte Creek's Derrick Schultz spoke with Action News Now Saturday and says they are thrilled to give back to the veterans.
"I think it's an opportunity for folks to be with friends and family, spend some time outside, an additional way for them to recreate and rehabilitiate, things of that nature, and simply to play some golf and have some access in our community to do so," says Schultz.
Schultz adds that it's just the Chico Veterans Affairs that's involved in the program.
The late Wes Shockley and Justin Pierce of the Chico VA have furthered the growth of the progam.
This coming Wednesday will be the final VA outing of the season.
Schultz says they usually see up to 14 vets attend.
