CHICO, Calif. -- The winner of the 10th annual Almond Bowl car giveaway will be announced on Friday during halftime. The winner will have the opportunity to choose a red Hyundai Kona or a white Nissan Kicks.
All proceeds from the raffle will go to either Pleasant Valley High or Chico High's athletics' program.
"[These proceeds from the Almond Bowl is about] seventy to 85% of the budget for the sports programs for the year," said Chico Nissan General Manager Ryan Sutton. "So we were pretty blown away when we heard that. We got a list of all of the things they used the money to buy and it was neat. It was sports equipment, uniforms, you name it."
Last year, both schools raised over $200,000 and in its' nine years raised nearly $2 million dollars.
Raffle tickets are still on sale at Chico Nissan and Hyundai as well as the high schools until Friday afternoon.
The Almond Bowl is set for November 1 at 7:30 p.m.
