Woman rescued from bottom of Phantom Falls

Cal Fire rescued a woman who was trapped beneath the Phantom Falls viewing area for hours Sunday night.

CHEROKEE, Calif.- Cal Fire rescued a woman who was trapped beneath the Phantom Falls viewing area for hours Sunday night.

The waterfall is part of the Table Mountain Hike near Oroville.

Butte County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue and CAL FIRE/Butte County Fire responded to the rescue around 10 p.m. with four engines and 11 people.

Crews were able to get the woman out of the area at around 12:30 a.m. Monday morning.

She is expected to be OK. 

Cal Fire says they do not yet know the reason she became trapped.
