CALIFORNIA – A woman killed in a collision on Highway 299, east of Sugar Pine Camp Road in Bella Vista Nov. 10 has been identified as 52-year-old Elizabeth Marcia Chick, of Ione, California, according to the Shasta County Coroner's Office.

She was killed after the CHP said bales of hay fell off a flatbed trailer on Highway 299 crushing her car.

The crash happened around 11 a.m. Tuesday. Investigators said the driver of the flatbed made a turn causing the hay bales to fall onto the Civic, which rolled into oncoming traffic.

There were no other serious injuries reported.

The first weekend of autumn was pleasant for northern California, but our relatively tranquil weather will change soon. A Pacific storm is approaching the West Coast, and it will bring our area rain showers and gusty wind soon.
