Woman hit by vehicle dies at scene in Redding

A woman who was standing by a parked vehicle on C St. died after a vehicle crashed into her and another woman on Saturday night.

REDDING, Calif. - A woman died after a vehicle crashed into her and another woman who were standing next to a parked car with the door open, the Redding Police Department said.

On Saturday, Redding Police Department responded to a crash involving a pedestrian near C St. and Fifth St. around 8:54 p.m.

When officers arrived, they found two women and a Ford Ranger in the road.

Officers said one woman was pronounced dead at the scene and the second was taken to the hospital.

An investigation revealed the driver was driving southbound on C St. and crashed into the two women who were standing next to a parked vehicle with the door open on the west shoulder of the road.

The identification of the woman who died has not been released at this time.

Police said drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor at this time.

The Redding Police Department is investigating the crash and anyone with information is asked to contact the department.
